How big are the prints? What are the photos printed on?

All prints are printed on ILFORD GALERIE Smooth Pearl paper with the short edge around 210mm. Depending on the aspect ratio of your photo, your image will be printed closest to 210x210mm (square), 210x315mm (35mm), 210x262.5mm (4x5). The long edge will change dependent on aspect ratio. ILFORD GALERIE Smooth Pearl paper features the very latest HDR (High Dynamic Range) optically clear coating and coupled with recent advancements in inkjet receiving layer design, makes this the reference media for producing images with superb clarity, high sharpness and excellent colour gamut.

When will I receive my purchased print?

We will be printing and shipping sold images throughout the duration of the Photo Trophy. Prints that didn’t sell / weren’t for sale will be posted (if selected) at the conclusion of the Photo Trophy, Sunday, November 16. Prints that were not selected for postage will be destroyed at the conclusion of the Photo Trophy.

Where do proceeds go?

Your submission fee covers the costs of printing, postage and all the labor involved between. The balance then goes directly to Hillvale Gallery for the upcoming year of programming. This helps us cover costs such as artist fees, printing, paint, lighting upgrades, materials — the list goes on.

If your print sells at the Photo Trophy, $25 will go directly to the you, the artist and $25 will go to Hillvale to cover printing as well as raise funds for all items listed above.

When will I receive my exhibited print?

We will begin posting prints soon after the conclusion of the exhibition, 16.11. All photographs that are unsold will be either posted (if selected) to the artist after the exhibition has closed or recycled if postage wasn’t selected.

How many prints are available for each photo?

All prints are open editions, unless specified not for sale (NFS).

I work with Polaroids, is it ok if my final image (which will come form a scan of a Polaroid) includes the white polaroid frame or if your preference to not have that included?

We will accept scans of instant film, but please note we will crop it to exclude the borders as close to 8x8 / 8x10 / 8x12 as possible (depending on the size provided) . To avoid disappointment, please provide your scan cropped.

I only have a standard lab scan from Hillvale, will this be enough?  / I think i submitted the wrong resolution for my photo!

Our 'standard' scans are fine for up to 8x12 prints. If we encounter any issues with your file size we will be in contact during the printing phase.

Are photos by the same photographer hung together or are they scattered throughout the space?

If you enter more than one photo they will not be exhibited next to each other. Exhibited prints will be hung at random in the space in a salon style hang.

Can I use my darkroom print?

We'd accept a scan of a darkroom print, but otherwise no — we print everything in house to ensure a quality, uniformly managed printing output.
